MAINE MARINERS

The Maine Mariners are an ECHL franchise based in Portland, Maine, honoring the namesake of Portland’s first professional hockey team – the Flyers’ AHL franchise from 1977-87. After two seasons without a team, Comcast Spectacor proudly brought professional ice hockey back to Maine’s most populous city for the inaugural season of 2018-19. The Mariners are currently in their second season, competing in the ECHL’s North Division. After a successful 37-32-2-1 first season, the Mariners look to make the jump to the playoffs in year two under Vice President of Operations and former Flyers star Danny Briere, as well as Head Coach and Assistant General Manager Riley Armstrong. The Mariners play their home games at the historic Cross Insurance Arena in downtown Portland, formerly known as the Cumberland County Civic Center – the home of the original AHL Mariners and later the AHL’s Portland Pirates
