Chief Content Officer
As Chief Content Officer, Kevin Sabbe is responsible for all aspects of original video, branded content, social media and content marketing for Spectacor Gaming’s rapidly growing esports and gaming entertainment interests. Charged with driving the overall creative vision, Sabbe, guides multiple owned and operated channels, maintaining a pipeline of creative development and output, and shepherding content packages for sponsorship partners. In addition, Sabbe works closely with teams within NBC Universal and Sky UK to create new, premium intellectual property and formats designed to engage the worldwide audience of over 2.5 billion gamers.
Prior to joining the organization in 2018, Sabbe was EVP, Head of Content for DEFY Media, a leading producer of multi-platform online video content for Millennials and Gen Z, with over 100M active monthly users. Sabbe led all development, casting, current programming and branded content for DEFY's diverse digital portfolio At DEFY, he successfully instituted a data-driven creative development process designed to leverage the company’s quick-twitch production model into a go-to-market concept slate. In addition, he oversaw creative for PRANK IT FWD, a cross-vertical, multimillion dollar branded content partnership.
Prior, Sabbe was an Executive Producer and Development Executive at Disney's Maker Studios, where he created and sold the company's first-ever television pilot, I AM MAKER, to the Freeform network, and oversaw Maker's 1M+ subscriber YouTube comedy channel. In addition, he was a lead creative executive on dozens of influencer and talent-driven projects for the company’s digital-to-linear content incubator, Maker SPARK.
As Executive Producer and showrunner at Yahoo!, Sabbe built and grew TV in No Time to become the company's flagship entertainment franchise, scaling and streamlining production while garnering nearly one billion views under his direction.
He spent almost a decade in various producer and support roles on television projects and films for MTV, NBC, The WB, Disney/Touchstone and Adam Sandler's Happy Madison Productions. He was a Co-Producer on 20th Century Fox's first feature to utilize a fully digital production model.
He began his career on the Walt Disney Studios lot as an assistant to feature film writer and director Nancy Meyers (What Women Want, The Holiday, It’s Complicated) after an internship with Wind Dancer Productions (Home Improvement).
Independently, Sabbe co-created and directed a digital comedy series that was optioned by CBS Studios and The Tannenbaum Company (Two and a Half Men) for television development.
Sabbe studied Media Arts and earned a B.A. at the University of Arizona.
He lives in Los Angeles with his longtime partner, Katie, their three children, Hannah, Kelsie and Huck, and their two rescue dogs.
